Hello, my name is Ruby Doohan. Im 16 years old and im an award winning makeup artist based in Surrey England, but I also make wigs, props and costumes as a hobby. I've been doing makeup self taught for 6 years and now I am studying level 2 hair and media makeup at college. I've worked on a few small independent film sets, mostly horror, and i've also worked at tulleys farm shocktober fest as a makeup artist. Most of my makeup looks and costumes are from the horror genre as i've always loved the dark and creepy aspects of characters and media, even from a very young age i was always more drawn to this genre.I started makeup 6 years ago when i was 10 yrs old, my skills originating from cosplaying (dressing as characters from games, film, tv etc) I was practicing makeup looks before this but nothing proper. From cosplaying, i learnt how to block out my brows with glue and draw on new ones, which was a skill i learnt when i was around 11 yrs old and use in every makeup look I do to this day. I also learnt how to draw on unique designs of eyeliner, how to put on false eyelashes, apply prosthetics and put in contact lenses which I find help me a lot now.I used to struggle with applying makeup on other people as for most years i was always doing it on myself, but i've found that now that im studying this in college, i'm now confident on other people.My skills in wig styling, costume and prop making has come from cosplaying too, but more recently. After studying GCSE textiles in secondary school I have become more confident in sewing for costumes, and studying hair in college has helped with styling wigs too.

◦ What will i be able to do for you ◦

I can do a large range of jobs from facepainting parties to film sets and theatre. I have done a lot of facepainting parties and school fayres and im very good with communicating with children and working on possibly more fidgety models. In general I find im good at dealing with people and models and ensuring client comfort, satisfaction with my work and accommodation to client needs. Im also experienced in working under tight time conditions, for example: each makeup session at Tulleys Shocktober fest is 1 hour and I usually manage to get at least 3-4 people done, Similarly to my college assessments I am only given one hour to complete a full face look and I manage to finish in time.I can also do a wide range of different makeup styles to fit the job. My strengths are in face painting, bodypainting and prosthetics, but I can also do period makeup (for example 1920s, 1940s etc makeup, georgian style makeup, glam makeup and casual makeup looks.
